Hardware Services

Cardinal Peak has experience designing PCBs and developing hardware systems using Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) CPU boards and peripherals. For very complex high-speed PCBs we can perform Signal Integrity Analysis.

In all our engagements, we emphasize a team approach to problem solving. Each of our engineers frequently calls on other members of the team for assistance in their area of expertise — which means that for each engagement, we bring the skills of the entire team to bear on solving our customer's problems.

A hardware engagement that results in the development of a new PCB typically involves working closely with the hardware staff of our customer. For those customers that do not have a hardware staff, we are happy to help derive hardware requirements and propose a solution that best meets the customer's needs.

SOME REPRESENTATIVE PAST ENGAGEMENTS INCLUDE:

We developed the hardware for an in-vehicle police car digital video recording system capable of capture and storing video and audio during law enforcement actions. The accompanying software provided powerful search capabilities. The resulting video and audio can be burned to DVD for evidentiary purposes.

We designed, laid out, and debugged a PCB containing an embedded controller for integrating several components of an embedded PC system. We transitioned the final design to a contract manufacturer for volume production.

We completed the design, layout, and prototype build of a 22-layer PCB for a major company in the storage industry. This PCB contained very high speed data busses that required significant signal integrity analysis.
