Software Services

Developing software for state-of-the-art products has been Cardinal Peak's forte since its inception in 2001. Whether developing on an embedded device or a traditional Windows or UNIX platform, we take a very disciplined approach toward software development. We'll take the lead on generating detailed engineering requirements, or we can support you by reviewing for completeness. We can even generate the marketing specification for you!

In all our engagements, we emphasize a team approach to problem solving. Each of our engineers frequently calls on other members of the team for assistance in their area of expertise — which means that for each engagement, we bring the skills of the entire team to bear on solving our customer's problems.

Cardinal Peak has three primary modes of engagement:
  • We can take complete ownership of a project and deliver source code and/or installable binaries. Starting from a general marketing specification, we'll create detailed requirements to insure we both understand what is to be delivered.

  • We can complete a portion of an overall project, working closely with your software team to develop APIs to simplify final integration.

  • One or more of our experienced developers can work on site at your facility as a direct augmentation of your software staff.
SOME REPRESENTATIVE PAST ENGAGEMENTS INCLUDE:
  • We performed assembly-level optimization of graphics primitives used by a prominent Silicon Valley electronics company, resulting in a 4x graphics performance increase. This work was performed on an Intel ARM-based processor running embedded Linux.

  • We developed embedded software (and the hardware, too!) for an in-vehicle digital video recording system for a leading electronics company serving the law enforcement market. These products capture and store video and audio during law enforcement actions.

  • We developed powerful back-office software for the in-vehical digital video recording system mentioned above. The software provided powerful after-the-fact labeling and search capabilities. The resulting video and audio can be burned to DVD for evidentiary purposes.

  • We developed a software application that performs low-latency display, recording, searching, and playback for digital and analog video and metadata generated by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This work was done under an SBIR contract for the U. S. Navy.

  • We developed an MPEG-4, MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 software decoder that can simultaneously record and play IP streaming media. This turn-key product runs on Linux and Solaris and is sold by a leading vendor of video-over-IP systems.

We'd welcome the opportunity to discuss how we could assist you on your project.
